Rotring Pens
Rotring was founded in 1928 as Tintenkuli Handels GmbH. Rotring's first item was the Tintenkuli, a stylographic pen a fountain pen with a thin metallic pipe as a substitute of the standard nib. Whilst stylographic pens had been already common in America and actually pre dated regular fountain pens, they hadn't been previously marketed in European countries, and Rotring would finally become the brand affiliated with such pens all through the globe.
Rot ring literally means red ring which continues to be located around the barrel of their pens these days. The company's name was changed to Rotring in the early 1970's to match the trademark.
Though stylographs never overtook fountain pens for use in writing, by 1953 the Rotring Rapidograph became the prototypical technical pen of its age. Its technology literally replaced the ruling pen and significantly simplified technical drawing. Rapidographs are still produced these days, both by Rotring and by Koh-i-noor, its US subsidiary.
