Pelikan fountain pens are manufactured by Pelikan; a company from Germany. This company is accredited for the invention of differential piston filling method. Additionally, Pelikan manufactures other writing equipments suitable for art and office use.
100 is the earliest model invented by Pelikan. Its modification is then named 100N.

Souveran also comes in M100, M150 and M200. These are more traditional than the above-mentioned M300, M400, M600, M800 and M1000. The difference between the former and the latter lies in the simpler decoration. The mechanism remains similar. The other difference is the nib. The traditional line has gold plated nibs as opposed to the modern ones which are in solid gold.
You may be sure that the nibs of both traditional and modern pens are just as readily replaceable as well as interchangeable.
Other than fountain pens, find ballpoints and mechanical pencils. If there is a particular pen that you fancy, you can find its corresponding counterpart in the ballpoints, etc. The model number is the same excepting the prefix letter.
If fountain pens sound a little too heavy for you and yet, you prefer something more than ballpoint pens, then look out for entry level fountain pens from Pelikan.
